Luke Andres had four goals for the Falcons
LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego, ranked ninth in the nation, defeated Air Force, 14-9, in a Western Water Polo Association game, Friday, Oct. 25, in La Jolla, Calif.
The Tritons (16-6, 6-0 WWPA) scored the first two goals before Air Force got on the board with a power-play goal by Luke Andres at 5:36 of the first period. UCSD had a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter and then scored one early in the second. Andres' second of the game, also 6-on-5, cut the Triton lead to 4-2. Grant Snyder scored late in the second quarter, but the Falcons trailed 6-3 at the half.
Andres' third goal of the game came from Jason Hires, also on the power play, at 3:27 of the third quarter as the Tritons had an 8-4 lead. Campbell Harris' goal with 20 seconds left in the third cut the Triton lead to 10-5 to start the fourth quarter. Snyder and Hires scored in the fourth as the Falcons trailed 12-7 with 3:30 remaining. Andres and Harris each scored in the final 80 seconds of the contest.
Andres led the Falcons with four goals while Harris and Snyder each had two. Anthony Tolbert made nine saves and also had two steals.
Air Force (9-13, 0-3 WWPA) continues its road swing with a conference game at Concordia, Saturday, Oct. 26, at 6 pm PT, in Irvine, Calif.
