RJ Leon, Cenada Clifton-Smith Earn Wins at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Seniors RJ Leon and Cenada Clifton-Smith captured victories over their service academy counterparts this evening (Oct. 4), as the Air Force boxing team faced off against Navy during the annual showdown in Annapolis. The pair were two of 10 Academy boxers to compete against the Midshipmen at McDonough Hall.

The victories bookended the competition for the Air Force men, as Leon earned a 125-pound victory over Jake Clary in the night's opening bout and Clifton-Smith decisioned Charlie Akerblom at 175 pounds to close out the competition in the final contest.

Classmates Ife Onigbanjo (147 pounds, vs Aidan McNally) and Devon Smith (156 pounds, vs Jack Jeon) also competed against Navy this evening, while sophomore Lawrence Barrett (132 pounds, vs Tanner Strawbridge), classmate Maksat Omar (139 pounds, vs Adrian Johnson) and freshman Walker Morris (185 pounds, vs Francois Benoit) made their first appearances in the annual academy showdown.

On the women's side, three Falcons – junior Shay Stayton (112 pounds, vs Olivia DiCarlo), sophomore Christen Greene (132 pounds, vs Elizabeth Grimmig), freshman Shannon Williams (139 pounds, vs Mikayla Lint) – all competed in the first showdown with their sister service academies.

Air Force returns to the Cadet Gym next week for another round of Friday Night Fights (Oct. 11).
