Men's Swimming & Diving Splits Duals at Intermountain Shootout

The Falcons won seven events on the weekend
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Air Force Academy men's swimming and diving team concluded action at the 2019 Intermountain Shootout Saturday afternoon, Oct. 5, in Grand Junction. The Falcons defeated the host Mavericks in dual action, 264-129, while falling to BYU, 215-177.
In day two, the Falcons won three events to up their total wins on the weekend to seven overall. They also finished in the top three in eight of the 11 events in day two.
In the first individual event of the day, sophomore Andrew Limpert took gold in the 200 fly, as he raced to a 1:53.46 in the 200 fly. Right behind him was classmate Aaron Pang, as he took second with a 1:53.78.
Later on in the day, the 200 back was contested, and freshman Gabriel Bartolomei took first with a time of 1:51.62, while senior Cole McAnany placed right behind with a 1:54.52. The final event win for the Falcons came in the 400 free relay, as the squad of sophomores Isaac Gwin, Matthew Lattin, Corey Shepard, and freshman Wen Zhang placed first overall.
Finally, on the diving board, freshman Brett Jenkins was once again the top finisher for the Falcons, this time on the 1-meter, as he placed fifth with a 250.80.
Air Force will be back in action Friday, Oct. 18, when they face Wyoming in a dual in Laramie. The meet will get started at 4 p.m. MT.
