Ihrig Captures Draw To Highlight Men’s Tennis At Idaho State Invite

Air Force men's tennis completed final action at the 2019 Idaho State Fall Invitational on Sunday in Pocatello, Idaho. The Falcons finished the tournament strong, going 6-1 on the day, highlighted by freshman Morgan Ihrig capturing the Orange draw championship and senior Mack Galvin earning the Black draw consolation title.

Freshman Morgan Ihrig completed a perfect 4-0 weekend in singles by going 2-0 Sunday to capture the Orange-B Draw championship. Ihrig defeated Arthur Sarafim of Weber State 6-4, 7-6 (5) in the semifinals and Gary Rendek of Idaho State 6-4, 6-2 in the championship match.

Senior Mack Galvin earned the Black-A Draw Consolation Championship with his Sunday win. Galvin rallied to defeat Drew Brown of Montana State 5-7, 6-1 (11-9).

Sophomore Jordan Azuma was a finalist in the Bengals-C Draw, going 1-1 on the day. Azuma defeated Ryland McDermott of Boise State 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 in the semifinals, before falling to Bo Han Li of Weber State 6-3, 6-7 (3), 10-4 in the championship match.

Air Force also picked up two more wins in extra matches. Freshman Jonathan Mascagni defeated Nejc Sitar of Montana State 7-5, 6-3 and freshman Denali Kitayama defeated Chase Stoner of Montana State 7-5, 6-3.

Air Force returns to action Oct. 16 at the ITA Fall Mountain Regional in Denver.
