Air Force defeats Sunbirds, 14-5, in WWPA seventh-place game
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Air Force water polo team closed out the 2019 season with a 14-5 win over Fresno Pacific in the seventh-place game of the Western Water Polo Association Championships, Saturday, Nov. 23, in Riverside, Calif.
After trading goals early in the first quarter, Air Force scored six straight goals and had a 7-2 lead at the half. Campbell Harris scored twice while Reagan Pittman, Luke Andres, Henry Yavitt, Corey Tanis and Grant Snyder all found the back of the net.
In the third quarter, Gavin Jones, James Dougherty, Sam Fuller and Harris scored in the first four minutes. Ian Shepherd and Corey Tanis scored in the last two minutes of the third for a 13-3 lead. Senior Owen Sedej scored in the fourth quarter for the victory.
Air Force concluded the 2019 season with an 11-17 record. The 11 wins are most under second-year head coach Ryan Brown and tie as the most since the 2015 team won 12.
