AF beat NMSU while falling to GCU
PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Air Force Academy women's swimming and diving team split a tri-meet against Grand Canyon and New Mexico State, defeating the Aggies while falling to the Antelopes, Saturday evening, Nov. 9.
Overall, Air Force won six events overall out of the 13 event meet. AF won a relay and four individual events.
"We had a great weekend in the pool, coming home 4-1 on the weekend is a huge confidence builder for our team," Head Coach Colleen Murphy said. "Our team had a great fall season and we are really looking forward to resting, suiting up, and swimming fast in Houston in two weeks."
The day began with a relay win in the 200 medley. That was followed by individual wins by freshman Sefilina Maile in the 50 free and 100 free, as well as wins by junior Kylie Stronko in the 100 back and senior Heidi Schellin in the 100 breast.
On the diving board, freshman Gabby Peltier took first in the 3-meter, while also placing third in the 1-meter.
Air Force is now off until the end of the month when they head down to the first big Invitational of the season, the Phill Hansel Invite hosted by the University of Houston. The event will run Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 21-23.
