Men’s Tennis Sweeps Seward County and Metro State

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis swept a Monday doubleheader over Seward County and Metro State at the Indoor Tennis Courts in the Cadet Gym. The Falcons won both matches by 6-1 scores and improved their record to 5-3 on the season.

The Falcons handled Seward County 6-1 in the morning match. Air Force won all three doubles matches by 6-2 scores to get the point. Tadhg Collins and Patrick Sklenka won at No. 1 doubles. Paul Hendrix and Jamie Bautista won at No. 2 and Jordan Azuma and Robert Baylon won at No. 3.

In singles, Sklenka defeated Nicolas Rousset in three sets, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 to win at No. 1 singles. Luke Sanderson defeated Hugo Lobo in two sets, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. Hendrix won at No. 3, 7-2, 7-5 over Gabriel Nery. James Scotty won at No. 5, 7-5, 2-6, 10-4 over Francisco Vargas. Isaac Perez on at No. 6, 6-4, 6-4 over Alex Mesquida-Berg.

In the nightcap, the Falcons also won 6-1 over Metro State. The Falcons swept the doubles again to earn the point. Collins and Sklenka won at No. 1, 7-6 (2). Perez and Baylon won at No. 2, 6-3 and Hendrix and Bautista won at No. 3, 6-3.

Sklenka made it a 4-0 day with his No. 1 singles win over Joey Tscherne in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Sanderson also went unbeaten in singles, winning at No. 2 over Alejandro Martinez-Morilla, 6-1, 6-7 (6), 6-4. Hendrix won at No. 4, over Mateo Besada, 6-1, 6-0. Scotty won at No. 5 over David Kijak, 7-5, 6-2. Perez then won at No. 6 over Kacey Walisundara, 6-0, 6-1.

The Falcons return to action Friday, Feb. 8, hosting Abilene Christian.
