Trujillo leads Falcons on final day in San Diego

Air Force placed 14th in a tournament that featured seven of the top 50 teams in the nation
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – For the second straight day, freshman Luke Trujillo (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the Air Force golf team in the final round of the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic, Tuesday, March 12, at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif. The tournament featured two top 10 teams and five others ranked in the top 50 in the nation.
Trujillo fired a one-over 73 in the final round and the ended tournament in 38th place at 223 (+7). Trujillo's consistent final round was comprised of one birdie, two bogeys and 15 pars. Junior Anson Kuznik shot a 75 in the final round for a 54-hole total of 229 (+13). Junior Josh Wu shot a 231, senior Andy Germann finished at 233 and senior Tate Tatom came in at 236. Freshman Jonathan Farmer, competing as an individual, shot a final round 73 and finished the tournament at 228.
Fifth-ranked Arizona State led wire-to-wire and won the tournament with an 854 (-10). Eighth-ranked Texas was second (-9). The Falcons finished in 14th place with a 911, five strokes ahead of co-host University of San Diego, a team that is eight spots ahead of the Falcons in the national rankings.
The Falcons will travel to Augusta, Ga., for the Augusta Invitational, April 6-7.
