Falcons travel to Augusta Invitational

Air Force competes in two-day, 15-team tournament, April 6-7
THIS WEEK: The Air Force men's golf team will travel to Augusta, Ga., for the Augusta Haskins Award invitational, Saturday-Sunday, April 6-7, at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com. The first two rounds take place on Saturday, April 6 with a 36-hole shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The event concludes on Sunday, April 7, for the final 18 holes with tee times off holes one and 10 from 8:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.
ABOUT THE FIELD: The 2019 field includes Augusta, Air Force, No. 39 Arkansas, Georgia State, Houston, No. 24 Illinois, Mercer, Northern Illinois, Notre Dame, No. 18 South Carolina, No. 7 Texas, UCF, USC Aiken, Virginia Tech, and No. 3 Wake Forest.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The 41st edition of Augusta University's home event features 15 teams competing for two days on the eve of The Masters. Created by the Haskins Commission in 1970, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is given annually to the "Most Outstanding Collegiate Golfer of the Year" as voted on by NCAA Division 1 golfers, coaches and select golf media. The Haskins Award honors Mr. Fred Haskins, a respected past head professional at the Country Club of Columbus, who dedicated his career to teaching junior golfers the art of competitive golf. Founded in the rich tradition of golf in Augusta, Ga., the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational has grown since its first year in 1979 as one of the top tournaments in Division-I golf.
TOURNAMENT HISTORY: Illinois has won the tournament two of the last three years. Last season, the Illini won with a three-round total of 839 (-25). Illinois' Dylan Meyer won the individual title each of the last two years, carding a 205 (-11) each season. Former individual champions include PGA stars: Phil Mickelson, Arizona State, 1989; Justin Leonard, Texas, 1992; Tim Herron, New Mexico, 1993; Heath Slocum, South Alabama, 1996; Vaughn Taylor, Augusta, 1998; Dustin Johnson, Coastal Carolina, 2007; Kevin Tway, Oklahoma State, 2011; Beau Hossler, Texas, 2016.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Senior Bryant Falconello leads the team with a 74.50 season stroke average, but missed most of the fall due to an injury. Freshman Luke Trujillo has played 21 of the 24 rounds and has a 74.52 stroke average. Junior Josh Wu is third at 75.22. Senior Andy Germann and junior Joseph Crisostomo have the best individual score with a 67 in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. Junior Anson Kuznik has the best round away from home, shooting a 69 at the Loyola Intercollegiate,Feb. 24. Wu shot a season-best round of 70 at the Ka'anapali Classic. Trujillo's best round of 70 came in both the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational and the Ka'anapali Classic.
