Falcons travel to San Diego for Lamkin Classic

Air Force will compete in 15-team tournament, March 11-12
THIS WEEK: The Air Force men's golf team will travel to Chula Vista, Calif., for the Lamkin San Diego Classic, March 11-12, at the San Diego Country Club. The tournament is co-hosted by San Diego State and the University of San Diego. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
ABOUT THE FIELD: The 15-team tournament field features two teams ranked in the top 10 in the nation, No. 8 Texas and No. 9 Arizona State and five others ranked in the top 51 (No. 31 North Carolina, No. 48 Mississippi, No. 49 St. Mary's, No. 50 Arizona and No. 51 Colorado State). The remainder of the field includes, Air Force, San Diego State, San Diego, New Mexico, Colorado, Washington ,
Louisiana and Nebraska.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The two-day, 54-hole event will be played at the par 72, 7,033-yard San Diego Country Club, March 11-12. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Monday's round begins at 8:30 am PT with a shotgun start. Tuesday's play will begin with tee times starting at 8:00 am PT, with players going off of No. 1 and No. 10 in threesomes.
The tournament began in 2008. Oklahoma State won last season's tournament (-44). Previous team champions include Mississippi, Texas, Washington, USC, San Diego and San Diego State. Former individual champions include current PGA stars, Jon Rahm (Arizona State), Xander Schauffele (SDSU) and Beau Hossler (Texas).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Senior Bryant Falconello leads the team with a 74.50 season stroke average, but missed most of the fall due to an injury. Freshman Luke Trujillo has played 18 of the 21 rounds and as a 74.56 stroke average. Junior Josh Wu is third at 74.87. Senior Andy Germann and junior Joseph Crisostomo have the best individual score with a 67 in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational. Junior Anson Kuznik has the best round away from home, shooting a 69 at the Loyola Intercollegiate,Feb. 24. Wu shot a season-best round of 70 at the Ka'anapali Classic. Trujillo's best round of 70 came in both the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational and the Ka'anapali Classic.
