Isaac Perez Presented with ITA Div. I Arthur Ashe Leadership Award

On Saturday, Aug. 24, 2nd. Lt. Isaac Perez was presented with the ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership and Sportsmanship Award for NCAA Div. I men's tennis, presented at the Empire State Building in New York.
Perez, a 2019 graduate of the Air Force Academy and four year letterwinner with the men's tennis team, was one of 10 college recipients of the prestigious award.
The team captain in 2018-19, Perez, notched 80 career wins during his time at Air Force. He is a two-time recipient of the Air Force Men's Tennis Coach Gugat "Attitude is Everything" Award. Off the court, Perez was active at the Academy as the wing staff public affairs officer. During the summer prior to his senior year, Perez was the vice commander of the Air Force Summer Sports Camps. The San Antonio, Texas, native is slated to attend undergraduate pilot training upon graduation.
"Isaac had a tennis career like few others at the Air Force Academy and led our team with the character of a champion," head coach Dan Oosterhous said. "Isaac was a role-model for my team the day he stepped on our courts and has always displayed the utmost respect and sportsmanship while representing the Academy."
The Air Force men's tennis team was on hand in New York to watch Perez receive his award. In addition, both Perez and the team participated in the Arthur Ashe Kids Day, one of the kick-off events for the US Open at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York. The team assisted in kids clinics, giving the next generation of tennis players an introduction to the game.
Perez also took over the ITA Instagram account (@ITA_Tennis) on Friday, Aug. 23. Perez provided followers with an inside look on his trip to New York.
