Air Force Announces 2019-20 Boxing Schedule

The Falcons will host seven home events at the Academy, including the 62nd Wing Open Championships on Feb. 29.
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force boxing team announced its schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season this afternoon (Aug. 5). The Falcons, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Blake Baldi, will host seven events at the Academy this year, including their annual showdown with service academy rival Army West Point and the 62nd-annual Wing Open Tournament.
In addition to hosting four rounds of Friday Night Fights this season (Sept. 20, Oct. 11, Nov. 15, Jan. 17), Air Force will welcome Army West Point to the Cadet Gym Boxing Room on Nov. 1, before contesting the opening rounds of the Wing Open Tournament on Feb. 13 (quarterfinals) and Feb. 21 (semifinals). The 2020 Wing Open Championships will close out the home slate on Feb. 29 at Clune Arena.
The Falcons also head out on the road for seven regular-season competitions, with events in Annapolis, Md. (Oct. 4), Reno, Nev. (Oct. 18, Jan. 31), Detroit, Mich. (Oct. 25), New York, N.Y. (Nov. 25), Seattle, Wash. (Jan. 24-25) and Santa Clara, Calif. (Feb. 15). The National Collegiate Boxing Association's postseason begins for Air Force with the Western Regional in Reno, Nev., on March 19-21 and the National Championships on April 9-11 (location TBA).
Air Force has captured 19 NCBA team titles since 1980, while placing within the top two 35 times over the last 39 years.
