(Oct. 6, 2018) Air Force defeated Navy, 35-7, in Falcon Stadium in the first game of the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy series. The Falcons' defense held Navy to just 178 total yards, including 129 rushing. The Midshipmen entered the game leading the nation in rushing with a 355.8 average. Navy scored first on a Garret Lewis touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter. The Falcons answered with a Donald Hammond III to Ronald Cleveland 61-yard TD connection to tie the score. The Falcons took a 14-7 halftime lead with a long touchdown run. Hammond scored three rushing touchdowns in the second half, the last coming with 10:16 remaining. He finished with 60 yards and three touchdowns while hitting 6-10 passes for 142 yards and a score in his first-career start. The defense was led by Brody Bagnall, who had a career-high 13 tackles. Jeremy Fejedelem added nine while Jordan Jackson chipped in with career highs of seven tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss for 14 yards. The defense held Navy to just three first downs, 43 rushing yards and 65 total yards in the second half. Malcolm Perry led Navy with 54 yards rushing on 19 carries. Air Force finished with 399 total yards, including 257 rushing and 142 passing.
THE LAST TIME AT NAVY
(Oct. 7, 2017) Navy defeated Air Force, 48-45, in a classic in the long-standing series. The Midshipmen led 28-10 at the half and opened the third quarter with a field goal to push the lead to 31-10. Things got exciting from there, as the Falcons scored touchdowns on five straight possessions and took a 45-41 lead with 1:53 remaining. Navy marched down the field and scored the game-winning touchdown with 15 seconds left on a Zach Abey to Tyler Carmona 16 yard pass. The 93 combined points are the most in the series. Navy finished with 557 total yards, including 471 rushing. Abey led the way with 214 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Air Force had 621 total yards, including 340 rushing and 281 passing. Arion Worthman broke a 47-year-old record for total offense with 396 total yards. He had 139 yards and two touchdowns rushing and 257 yards and a pair of TDs passing.

The 2019 season marks the 48th year of Commander-in-Chief's trophy competition. The trophy goes annually to the winning academy with the best record in the round-robin competition.
