Golfers host Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational

The 51st annual tournament features 18 teams and will be played at the Eisenhower Golf Course, Sept. 6-8
THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team opens the 2019-20 season by hosting the 51st annual Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Friday-Sunday, Sept. 6-8, at the Eisenhower Blue Course, U.S. Air Force Academy. On Friday and Saturday, golfers will play 18 holes each day with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. (MT). Sunday's tee times will begin at 7:15 am (MT). The practice round will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
THE FIELD: Eighteen teams are slated to compete in this year's tournament: Air Force, Boise State, Cal Baptist, Cal State Northridge, Colorado, Drake, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Southern Utah, Texas State, UC Davis, Utah State, Utah Valley, UTEP, Valparaiso, Weber State and Wyoming.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational is in its 51st season. Formerly known as the Rocky Mountain Invitational and the Pikes Peak Invitational, the event was re-named the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in 2003 to honor the legendary coach who headed up the Air Force program for 25 years and is a member of the Air Force Athletics' Hall of Fame.
EISENHOWER BLUE COURSE: The Blue Course of the Eisenhower Golf Club opened in the 1959 and is named after former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who took part in the dedication ceremony. The 7,511 yard, par 72 course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and is currently ranked as the third best military course in the nation (PGA.com) and was the 24th best college course (Golf Week) in the country.
LAST YEAR: Colorado won the 2018 tournament with a nine-under par 855. Wyoming was second (860, -4), followed by UC Davis (861, -3) and then Air Force. New Mexico State was fifth (863, -1). It was Air Force's best finish in five seasons at its home tournament Joseph Crisostomo fired a five-under 67, a career-best round, on Sunday and tied for fifth overall at 212 (-4) for the tournament. Andy Germann and Josh Wu tied for 17th overall with a three-round total of 216 (even). Colorado's Daniel O'Loughlin won the individual title with a seven-under 209. He shot 70 the first two days and 69 in the final round. New Mexico State's Tadhg Campbell was second with a six-under-par, 210.
