
Air Force Falls at Utah State

LOGAN, Utah - Air Force men's basketball fell to Utah State 72-47 in Mountain West action Tuesday late night at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The setback, which tipped at 9 pm MT, dropped the Falcons to 9-11, 3-5 MW.
The Falcons had its lowest scoring output of the season, shooting just 29 percent from the field and 16 percent from three-point range.
Air Force struggled to find its offense in the first-half, taking a 32-21 deficit into halftime. The Falcons shot just 30 percent from the field and 10 percent from three point range in the opening half. The Falcons held Utah State (15-6, 4-4 MW) to 32 percent shooting, but the Aggies were able to get up by 11 with six more free throws made and three more three's made than the Falcons in the opening half.
The Falcons continued to struggle offensively in the second half, getting out-scored 40-26.
Senior Lavelle Scottie led the Falcons with 13 points, to go with four rebounds. Senior Ryan Swan added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore AJ Walker added six points and three rebounds.
Freshman Mason Taylor led the bench with four points and a team-high two steals. Sophomore Isaac Monson, playing in his home state, added three points and one rebound.
Forward Justing Bean led four Utah State players in double figures with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Sam Merrill added 15 points and center Neemias Queta scored 14.
Air Force returns to action Saturday, Jan. 25, at San Jose State. The game tips at 2 pm PT and will be broadcast by the Mountain West Network.
