Falcons go 1-1 against conference opponents

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - On Jan. 25, the Air Force rifle team went 1-1 against two Patriot Rifle Conference opponents at Ohio State in Columbus. OSU won the overall match with a 4663. Air Force beat UTEP 4655 to 4594.

In the air rifle, Air Force was the team winner by seven points, beating out OSU 2354 to 2347. UTEP finished with a 2321. In the smallbore, the Buckeyes beat the Falcons 2316 to 2301. UTEP finished with 2273 points. Air Force is now 4-1 in the conference.

The Falcons top individual in the match was sophomore Peter Fiori with an aggregate 1176. He was the top finisher in the air rifle with a score of 597, and had a 579 in the smallbore.

Senior Logan Ogden was the team's top shooter in smallbore with a 584. In air rifle, he finished with a 588 for an aggregate 1172.

Sophomore Maliya Hillman finished the day ranked eighth with a total score of 1156. She had a 567 smallbore and 589 in air rifle.

Junior Nate Peterson was ranked ninth on the top individuals list with an 1155. His scores were 575 in smallbore and 580 in air rifle.

Freshman James Fees took the number 10 spot on the top-individuals listing with an 1153. He scored a 574 in the smallbore and a 579 in air rifle.

Prior to the match, the Falcons were in Akron for a match against the Zips. The Falcons beat the Zips 4683 to 4670. The win gave the Falcons a season-high score. The Falcons won both events, finishing with a 2325 in smallbore and 2358 in the air rifle. The 2325 was also a season high. Fiori and Ogden were the top finishers in the match.

Air Force is now 13-2, 4-1 in the PRC.
