In his own words:
I took a class over summer in Philosophy. It was pretty nice to get a class out of the way, we met everyday and had a couple papers. I hope to pursue a career in the NFL after graduation, but obviously that is not a sure things. I'm excited about serving my country and love to do acquisitions in either the Air or Space Force.
I have learned that mental toughness is the driving factor of success. In quarantine, it would have been easy to be lazy and not grind on both school work and physical work even though you are supposed to. However, with some mental toughness and self-motivation, those who want it bad enough will always go to work.
2019 – Played in all 13 games, starting 12 … started the last nine games of the season … earned first-team all-Mountain West honors … named first-team all-Colorado by the National Football Foundation … led the team in knockdowns … part of an offensive line that led the conference and ranked second nationally in rushing with a 298.5 per-game average … offensive line allowed just four sacks, the fewest sacks in the nation … Air Force led the conference and ranked second nationally in third-down percentage with a 53.5 mark … the Falcons led the Mountain West and ranked second nationally in time of possession with a 34:28 mark ... named preseason second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation entering 2020, becoming the first Falcon to earn Walter Camp honors since Carlton McDonald in 1992 … first offensive lineman to earn All-American honors since 2002, first for any position since 2016 and first on offense overall since 2007.
2018 – Played in all 12 games, starting nine … started seven straight games to end the season … helped anchor an offensive line that led the conference and ranked fifth nationally in rushing with a 283.5 per-game average … offensive line led the conference and ranked second nationally in sacks allowed with seven … offense led the conference and ranked fifth nationally in time of possession with a 34:22 mark … the offense led the conference and ranked ninth nationally in red zone offense, scoring on 91.3 percent of its possessions.
2017 – Did not see any varsity action.
High School – Lettered three years in football and baseball and two in basketball … was a three-year all-conference honoree in football on offense, earning first-team honors twice … earned second-team all-conference honors for defense twice and first-team once … two-time honorable mention all-state honoree … member of the National Honor Society and German Honor Society.
Personal – Parents are Doug and Staci Laufenberg … one of two children … member of cadet squadron 12 … majoring in management … would like to work in acquisitions in the Air Force … hobby is spikeball … completed Operations Air Force and was on the cadet cadre for survival training in the summer of 2019.
