Air Force Veterans Day Salute To Service: Lt. Col. Tom Bellairs

The mission of the United States Air Force Academy is to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become leaders of character, motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation. Lt. Col. Tom Bellairs is a shining example of that mission statement.

A 2003 graduate of the Academy, Bellairs was a four-year standout on the court for Falcon basketball, earning Mountain West Newcomer of the Year honors as a freshman in 2000. After his time at the Academy, Bellairs continued his basketball career with the All-Armed Forces basketball team, earning the Gold Medal at the World Championships in Belgium.

In addition to his 10-year basketball career after graduation, Bellairs has also worked in various career fields in the Air Force. He has had assignments in procurement, weather satellites and logisitics in Afghanistan in addition to stints as a basketball coach at the Air Force Academy.

In honoring Veterans Day and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, Brian Jerman of FalconVision sat down recently with Bellairs to recount his time at the Academy and how it shaped the foundation for life in service to the Air Force and beyond.
