Sefilina Maile Named MW Swimmer of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force Academy women's swimming sophomore Sefilina Maile was named the Mountain West Conference swimmer of the week, the Conference announced Tuesday, Dec. 8. It is the first weekly honor of her season and the third of her career.

Maile won two individual events in a tri-dual split with Colorado State and Wyoming, Dec. 4. She took first in both the 50 free (23.47) and 100 free (50.64), while finishing more than two seconds ahead of the second place swimmer in the 100 free. The Albuquerque, N.M. native also swam the anchor leg of the winning 200 medley relay, with a split time of 22.62.

Her altitude adjusted 100 free time of 50.49 is tops in the MW this season, and ranks fourth-best in Academy history. In addition, her 50 free time was the seventh-best time in program history and ranks third in the conference this season.

The Falcons are now off from competition until the New Year when they will play host to a quad-meet against Colorado Mesa, Colorado Mines, and Northern Colorado, Friday, Jan. 8. Action inside the Cadet Natatorium begins at 5 p.m. MT.
