Falcons conclude the PRC Championships

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. – The Air Force rifle team concluded a two-day Patriot Rifle Conference Championship weekend. The Falcons finished second in the conference, TCU was the PRC winner. Ohio State, Alaska and UTEP followed.
Air Force and TCU went 4681 to 4728, OSU finished with a 4669, Alaska had a 4639 and UTEP finished the weekend with a 4583.
In the Smallbore Championships, Air Force scored a 2314, TCU scored a 2340, OSU had a 2310 followed by Alaska's 2296 and UTEP's 2264. Sophomore Peter Fiori, who won the smallbore finals, was the conference individual champion. In the event, Fiori had a 584.
In the Air Rifle Championships, the team finished with a 2367; TCU won with a 2388. OSU came in with a 2359 followed by Alaska, who had a 2343 and UTEP with a 2319. Senior Logan Ogden had the team's highest score with a 595. Fiori finished with a 592. The pair were the only Falcons to finish in the top 10 of air rifle.
The Falcons also shot a pre-conference match against Alaska on Feb. 14 at TCU. Air Force won the match 4666 to 4622. In the smallbore, the Falcons scored a 2307, and had a 2359 in the air rifle.
The rifle team concludes a successful collegiate season, 17-3 and 8-2, in the PRC. With conference under their belts, the Falcons move into NCAA qualifiers. The team returns home to get ready for the NCAA Qualifier Match against TCU at the Falcon Rifle Range on Feb. 22. Currently, Air Force is ranked fourth in the nation with a 4673.5 team average.
