Falcons fall to TCU in qualifier

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - The No. 6 Air Force rifle team was host to second-ranked TCU for the NCAA Qualifier Match on Feb. 22. TCU won the match 4718 to 4669. Sophomore Peter Fiori led the Falcons in the smallbore gun with a score of 582. He also led the team in air rifle with a score of 593. Fiori had the fifth-best mark in the match with an 1175.

Air Force turned in a scores of 2,314 in smallbore and 2,355 in air rifle. The Falcons' four shooters in smallbore included senior Logan Ogden with team's second-best score of 579, and sophomore Devin Schwindt with a 578. Freshman Jordan Williams scored a 575 followed by junior Nate Peterson who turned in a 571.

In the air rifle, Ogden had a 590 and finished with an 1169. Sophomore Maliya Hillman scored a 562 in smallbore and had a 584 in the air rifle, she finished with an 1146. Peterson had a 581 for a final score of 1152, Williams followed with a 588 and an aggregate 1163.

Last weekend, Air Force was the runner up in the Patriot Rifle Conference Championship. The Falcons finished the season with a 17-4 record, 8-3 in the conference.

Currently, the Falcons are seated sixth in country, and are looking to make their fifth-consecutive NCAA Championship appearance (March 13-14). The final eight schools competing will be officially announced during the NCAA NC Rifle Selection Show, which airs Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 3:00 PM ET on NCAA.com.
