
Wrestling Falls to Northern Colorado on Senior Day

AF got three wins, including a pin from Randy Meneweather
USAFA, Colo. – The Air Force Academy wrestling team dropped the 2020 dual finale to Northern Colorado, 25-12, Sunday afternoon, Feb. 23, inside Clune Arena. The Falcons (4-8, 1-7 Big 12) notched three bout wins on Senior Day.
The biggest of them all was a resonating pin from senior 165 pounder No. 24 ranked Randy Meneweather, as he returned to the mat for the first time in four matches and proceeded to pin No. 31 Austin Matthews in just 10 seconds. It was the quickest pin for a Falcon this season and the fastest in his career.
Meneweather concluded his regular season with a 23-5 record, including 7-1 in duals and a perfect 5-0 in the Big 12. The win was his eighth in a row and fourth pin in a row. He now has a team-leading 15 falls on the season, including five in dual action.
The other two bout wins came by decision from junior Cody Surratt at 174 lbs. and senior Matt Wagner at heavyweight. For Surratt, it was his 21st win on the season, while Wagner ended his AF career on a high note with his sixth career dual win and third career Big 12 dual win.
Air Force now has the next away from competition as they prepare for the Big 12 Wrestling Championships. The tournament will take place Saturday-Sunday, March 7-8 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.
