Men's and Women's Diving Set to Host AF Diving Invitational

The competition has a unique format this season
USAFA, Colo. – The Air Force Academy men's and women's diving teams are set to host the annual Air Force Diving Invitational, Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 6-8 inside the Cadet Natatorium.
The Falcons will welcome in divers from BYU, California Baptist, Colorado State, Denver, New Mexico, Northern Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming over the three days of competition. All three dives will be contested.
However, the format for this year's competition is rather unique, as it is being run in stages of elimination until there is a winner of both the 1m and 3m. The prelims will eliminate the field down to the top 12, who will then compete in group stages until the field is whittled down to the final two. The winner of that head-to-head matchup will be the AF Diving Invite Champion for that respective event. This format does not apply for the platform dive, which will be a standard prelim round, followed by the top-12 in the finals.
Thursday will have women's 1M competition, beginning at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 3M, starting after the women's have completely concluded, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Friday is the reverse (women 3M, men 1M) with the same time structure, and Saturday will be the platform starting at 10 a.m. for the women and 1:15 p.m. for the men.
This weekend marks the final regular season competition for the men's and women's teams. Women's swimming and diving heads to Minneapolis, Minn. for the Mountain West Championships, Feb. 19-22, while the men will compete for a Western Athletic Conference crown in Houston, Texas, Feb. 26-29.
