Sophomore Kayne Hutchison won the heavyweight bout
USAFA, Colo. – The Air Force Academy wrestling team fell to No. 11 Oklahoma State in a Big 12 Conference dual, 37-3, Saturday afternoon, Feb. 8, inside the East Gym. AF (3-5, 1-4 Big 12) faced a gauntlet of nine nationally ranked wrestlers, and the firepower of the Cowboys (11-2, 5-1 Big 12) proved too much to overcome.
AF's lone win came in the finale, as sophomore heavyweight Kayne Hutchison took a hard fought 6-5 decision. It was his 15th win of the season and fourth dual victory.
Elsewhere, AF lost by close decisions at 133 lbs. and 174 lbs., with both matchups coming against nationally ranked grapplers. The other seven matchups, OSU took via bonus points with all of those wrestlers ranked in the top-17 in the nation.
The Falcons will return to the mats tomorrow, Feb. 9, when they take on Cal Poly in non-conference action. The dual with the Mustangs inside Clune Arena is set to begin at 1 p.m.
