LAST TIME OUT: The Falcons had a 1-1 dual weekend in Big 12 road action, defeating Utah Valley, 22-14, before falling in a barnburner to Fresno State, 19-18. Against UVU, AF had six wins, including a pin from senior Randy Meneweather and major decision from freshman Sidney Flores. Then against the Bulldogs, the dual ended in a 18-18 tie, but FS won by criteria after securing six of 10 bouts. Meneweather had yet another pin in that dual, his 14th of the season for his 22nd win.
LAST SEASON VERSUS OSU/CP: Last season against Oklahoma State, the No. 2 ranked Cowboys won all 10 bouts on their way to a 39-0 win. Then two days later, AF rebounded with a 39-6 dual win over the Mustangs in California, winning eight match-ups, six of those via bonus points.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE COWBOYS: Saturday will mark just the third all-time meeting between the Cowboys and Falcons, and the second as Big 12 rivals. The only prior meeting prior to last season came back in 2007, when No. 4 OSU defeated AF in neutral site match in Grand Prairie, Texas, 40-5.
ALL TIME AGAINST THE MUSTANGS: Sunday will be the seventh meeting between the Mustangs and Falcons, with AF leading the all-time tally, 6-0. The series dates back to 2000, when AF won 19-15, Jan. 22.
NATIONALLY RANKED FALCONS: Coming into the weekend, Air Force has a pair of its wrestlers gaining recognition in the national polls. At 125 lbs., sophomore Sidney Flores is tabbed as high as 14th overall by WIN Magazine, while at 165 lbs., senior Randy Meneweather is ranked 24th overall by TheOpenMat. Both were also ranked in the initial NCAA Coaches Panel, which is one of the three deciding factors when it comes to NCAA Tournament bids.
PINS ON PINS ON PINS: To this point in the season, Air Force has been one of the most dominant teams on the mats when it comes to pinning opponents. AF has 42 pins against D1 competition, which is tied for the 10th-most of any other D1 team thus far.
