Air Force picked third in Mountain West Mountain Division

Air Force was picked to finished third in the Mountain West Mountain Division in the 2020 preseason poll, released today by the conference office. Boise State was first with 125 points, receiving 20 of 21 first-place votes. Wyoming was second with 90 points and the other first-place vote, followed by the Falcons with 86 points. Utah State was fourth with 60, Colorado State fifth with 59 and New Mexico sixth with 21.
San Diego State was picked to win the West Division with 122 points and 19 of 21 first-place votes. Nevada was second with 100 points and two first-place votes. Hawaii was third with 74 points, followed by Fresno State (73), San Jose State (43) and UNLV (29).
Air Force capped a historic 2019 season with a 31-21 win over Washington State in the Cheez-It Bowl Dec. 27 in Phoenix, Ariz. The win gave Air Force an 11-2 overall record. The Falcons finished second in the Mountain Division with a 7-1 mark, matching a school record for conference wins. Air Force's 11 overall wins are the third most in program history. Air Force closed the season ranked in the final national polls for the first time since 1998, finishing 22nd in the Associated Press poll and 23rd in the USA Today Coaches poll. Air Force enters this season with an eight-game winning streak, the second longest active streak in the nation trailing only defending national champion LSU's 16-game mark.
