Falcons Split Tri-Meet with Wyoming and BYU

The Falcons defeated the rival Cowboys for the second-straight day
USAFA, Colo. – The Air Force Academy men's swimming and diving team split a tri-meet Saturday morning, Jan. 16, inside the Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons knocked off Western Athletic Conference rival Wyoming for the second straight day, 147-96, while falling to BYU, 142-99.
At the first break in the swimming action, the Falcons honored the four-man senior class of 2021. Recognized for their accomplishments at USAFA were Cole Armagost, Erik Orr, Brendan Richichi, and Vincent Vivadelli.
The three teams competed in 13 events on the day, with AF winning a pair of them. AF had a top-three -finish in 11 of the 13 events, including three runner-up finishes. Leading the way with the event wins were freshman Chris Lindley in the 1000 free, and junior Corey Shepard in the 100 free.
Air Force's runner-up finishes were in both the relays, the 200 medley and 200 free, as well as an individual by junior Adam Grimm in the 400 IM. On the diving board, Armagost led the way with third place scores on both the 1-meter and 3-meter.
AF will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 30, for the annual Colorado Sprint Championships, hosted by the University of Denver. Action from the Mile High City is set to begin at 10 a.m. MT.
