Rifle drops two vs. Nebraska
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, COLO. – The Air Force rifle team will be traveling to Fairbanks, Alaska, next weekend for two conference matches against the University of Alaska on Jan. 23-24. The matches open the Patriot Conference season for the Falcons before entering into the conference championships in February. The Falcons are coming off of a 0-2 weekend in Nebraska.
Last weekend the Falcons dropped two matches to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Jan. 16-17.
In Sunday's match, Air Force lost 4676-4699, the team scored a 2317 in smallbore and 2359 in the air rifle.
Air Force Top Individuals: On Sunday, freshman Morgan Kreb was the top individual finisher in the match, outscoring both teammate junior Peter Fiori and a Husker with a four-point lead in total scoring, 1178-1174, respectively. Kreb shot the Falcons' season-high score, 595, her personal-best in the air rifle. She also had a personal best in the smallbore with a 583, and had a personal-best aggregate 1178. Fiori finished the day with an aggregate score of 1174.
In Saturday's match, Fiori was the lead shooter with a final score of 1174, outscoring the Husker's top shooter by one point. In smallbore, Air Force scored a 2303, just five points below UN. In air rifle, UN had an 18-point lead over Air Force, 2364-2346. The final scores were Nebraska 4672, Air Force 4659.
Air Force is now 4-2 for the season.
