Air Force Swim and Dive Opens Home Slate with Tri-Meet

AIR FORCE vs. NEBRASKA-OMAHA & COLORADO-MINES
Friday, October 15, 6 p.m. MT
Cadet Natatorium, USAFA, Colo.
The men's and women's swim and dive team open the home slate in tri-meet action with Nebraska-Omaha and Colorado-Mines. Action is slated for 6 p.m. in Cadet Natatorium.
Current Defense Department and Air Force Academy rules require all individuals to wear a mask inside Academy facilities. All individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must wear masks outside on military installations.
A contingent of divers travels to Riverside, California, to compete at the Lancer Diving Invite, Saturday (Oct. 16). Action is slated to begin at 10 a.m. PT in the Lancer Aquatics Center.
WOMEN'S SQUAD COMING IN HOT
The women's swim and dive team opens the home slate on a high note after sweeping a tri-meet against Arkansas-Little Rock (122.00-48.00) and Tulane (122.00-101.00), Friday and Saturday Oct. 8-9, posting first-place finishes in four events.
Corbyn Cormack won Freshman of the Week as she guided Air Force to a Tri-Meet sweep. Cormack Clocked three first-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (56.50), the 400-yard individual medley (4:25.55), and the 200-yard IM (2:05.61). She helped the Falcons' 400-yard medley team to a first-place finish with a time of 3:52.18.
WEN ZHANG OPENS STRONG
Air Force's Wen Zhang was named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer the Week, respectively, for Sept 29 through Oct 4.
Zhang, a junior from Dothan, Ala., won first place in the 200 free and earned two runner-ups in 100 free and 500 free in the season-opening Intermountain Shootout at Grand Junction, Colo., Friday and Saturday (Oct. 1-2). His altitude adjusted 200 free (1:36.70) was the fastest in the nation at the time of completion according to CollegeSwimming. His times for 500 free is currently third (4:29.94) and his 100 free is eighth (4:29.94).

The men's and women's swim and dive teams will remain at the Academy to host the Rocky Mountain Invitational, Friday and Saturday (Oct. 22-23), in Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons will host LSU, Denver and Wyoming at the meet. Action is slated to begin at 5 p.m. MT on Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
