Men’s Swimming Victorious in Tri-Meet Home Opener

USAF ACADEMY - The men's swimming team claimed victories over Omaha-Nebraska (173.00-112.00) and Colorado Mines (190.00-86.00), in the home opener, Friday evening at Cadet Natatorium. The Falcons claimed 12 first-place finishes and 22 finishes in the top-three.
Air Force's 200 medley relay team made up of Gabe Bartolomei, Tommy Nagle, Matthew Lattin and Andrew Limpert won first in the event with a time of 1:32.19. The 200 freestyle relay team consisting of Wen Zhang, Limpert, Joseph Moore and Jacob Bulseco claimed the top-finish with a 1:22.13.
Wen Zhang, who won WAC Swimmer of the Week earlier this season, led the Falcons with three individual first-place finishes, winning the 200 freestyle (1:37.09), the 100 freestyle (44.75), and 500 freestyle (4:42.78),
Other first-place finishes were Gabe Bartolomei with a 1:54.94 in the 200 backstroke, Joseph Moore in the 200 butterfly with a 1:54.75, Logan Davis in the 200 backstroke (2:11.69), Andrew Limpert in the 100 butterfly (49.77) and Corey Sheppard, who took the top-spot in the 50 freestyle with a 20.45.
In diving, Tristan Trax won first-place, posting a 221.30, while teammate Christopher Gunn finished second with a 215.85. Gunn took first in the three-meter dive with a 233.90.
Tomorrow (Oct. 16), a contingent of divers will compete at the Lancer Diving Invite, hosted by California Baptist. Action is slated for 10 a.m. PT.
Next week, the Falcons host Wyoming, LSU and Denver in the Rocky Mountain Invitational, Friday-Saturday (Oct. 22-23). Action is slated for 5 p.m. MT on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. LSU's Olympic Gold Medalist in the 4x100 freestyle relay, Brooks Curry, is expected to compete in the event.
