COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Air Force women's 2021 soccer season officially closes its doors this evening, as the Falcons dropped their final match 1-0 on the road at Colorado College.
Air Force managed seven shots (two on goal), with Faith Lee and Kayla Milford providing both shots on target. Lee nearly beat Tigers keeper Taryn Benham just before halftime sending a left-to-right bender in the top left corner, with Milford coming very close to powering a header into the net in the 72nd minute.
Milford, Catherine Bakken, Ashlie Van Cleave, and Hannah Johnson were among the field players to accumulate all 90 minutes of action.
Colorado College maintained most of the possession in the first-half, but both sides entered halftime without a goal. Two minutes into the second-half, a Lee foul gave the Tigers a free-kick from roughly 45 yards away from goal. On the ball, CC's Alexa Porter kicked what appeared to be a seeking pass into the box, though the ball was left to be, as it bounced past the Falcons defense and into the net.
Air Force didn't lie down, pressuring the Tigers for the entirety of the second-half attempting to find the equalizer. Milford's headed attempt was the closest opportunity the Falcons had, though the tying goal did not come to fruition.
The Falcons season ends with a 6-10-2 record, and a 3-7-1 mark in the Mountain West.
