USAFA, Colo. - After scoring her first three collegiate goals, including a long-distance strike to help Air Force defeat UNLV at home for the time in 20 years, Mia Otero was named Freshman of the Week in the Mountain West Conference.
The Brockton, Mass. native became the first Falcon in 10 years to post a hat-trick, with McKenna Fox being the last to do so in 2011. Otero managed five shots, four of which were on goal. Her 73 minutes played were also a career-high in the victory.
Otero's hat trick is only the fifth in program history, as she joins Fox, Carrie Wellman, Beth Boyer, and Jennifer Rowland as the only Falcons to accomplish the feat.
