Men’s Swimming with Record-Book Performances at Art Adamson Invite

COLLEGE STATION – The men's swimming team had several swimmers impact the program record book at the prestigious Art Adamson Invitational on the campus of Texas A&M. The Falcons concluded the invite with a multitude of top finishes and a new school record.
Falcon senior Adam Grimm had a career-performance, posting a school record in the 400 IM with a 3:48.50 and a sixth-place finish in the event. Grimm also placed fifth in the 200 butterfly (1:46.76), and seventh in the 200 backstroke (1:46.99), while also helping the 200 freestyle relay team, along with Wen Zhang, Corey Shepard and Jacob Bulseco, to an eighth-place finish (6:39.12). Grimm was also the first leg of the 400 medley relay team, along with Tommy Nagle, Grant Alfman and Shepard, who finished eighth with a 3:14.82.
Junior standout Wen Zhang had a stellar performance as he was the top swimmer in the 200 freestyle, clocking a 1:33.65 for a first-place finish and making the NCAA B-Cut (1:36.32). He continued his strong performance in the 100 freestyle with a fourth-place finish (43.60), qualifying for another NCAA B-Cut (43.80). He earned another NCAA B-Cut qualification (4:23.34) in the 500 freestyle, where he finished ninth (4:22.78).
Zhang also helped the 400 freestyle relay team, along with Matthew Lattin, Bulseco and Shepard, to a fourth-place finish (2:53.60). In the 800 freestyle relay, he along with Grimm, Shepard and Bulseco posted an eighth-place finish (6:39.12)
Other top-eight finishes include Grant Alfman's seventh-place finish in the 100 butterfly (48.21), and Lattin's eighth-place finish (48.50), in the same event.
Andrew Limpert, who finished seventh in the 200 butterfly (1:47.01), was also one-of-four, along with Lattin, Bulseco and Shepard, who finished sixth in the 200 freestyle relay (1.19.17).
Next up, Air Force takes a short intermission over the Thanksgiving holiday, returning to dual-meet action against Cal Poly, Tuesday, December 21, in San Diego, California. The meet marks the last of the 2021 calendar year. Action is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
