Women’s Swimming Impacts the record Book at the Phil Hansel Invite

HOUSTON – Air Force concluded the prestigious Phil Hansel Invite with a plethora of record book finishes, Thursday through Saturday, at the University of Houston's Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
The 200 butterfly group cracked into the top-10 of the Air Force record book as walk-on Darien Thompson clocked a 2:02.78 for the eighth best time in program history. Teammate Alex Clark finished just ahead of Thompson, clocking a 2:02.76—the seventh fastest time in the record log.
Freshman standout Corbyn Cormack set a school record in the 100 fly with a lightning fast 53.57. She also performed exceptionally in the 200IM with a time of 1:59.40—the second-best time in program history, and a 2:02.59 in the 200 IM for the third-best time in record book. Cormack impacted the record book yet again with a 2:08.57 in the 200 breast, marking the eighth-best time in program history.
Abby Turner made her mark on the record book, racing to a 50.31 finish in the 100 freestyle.
Corrine Yorkman, Ella Martin and Allana Clarke etched their names into the backstroke record book, finishing with a 2:00.84, 2:02.22 and a 2:02.49, respectively. The times rank Yorkman fifth, Martin eighth, and Clarke 10th in the record book.
Yorkman and Martin etched their names into the 400 IM records with 4:23.13 and 4:26.99, respectively, placing fourth and eighth in the program record book. Martin also posted a 2:04.10 in the 200 IM—the fifth-best time in the record log.
Clarke also moved into the program's fifth-best time in the 100 backstroke with a 55.92 while Martin recorded a stellar 2:02.51 in the 200 backstroke for the ninth-fastest time in the Falcon record book.
The record book continued to evolve as sophomore Shayla Markle posted a 55.47 in the 100 fly to place ninth in said record book. Freshman Katie Kucik posted the program's seventh-best time in the 1650 free, clocking a 17:05.30.
The Falcons take a short break in action through the Thanksgiving holiday, returning to tri-meet action against San Diego State and Cal Poly, Tuesday, December 21, in San Diego. The meet marks the last of the 2021 calendar year.
