
Air Force to play ACC’s Louisville in SERVPRO First Responder Bowl

Air Force will play Louisville from the Atlantic Coast Conference in the 2021 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 2:15 p.m. CT in Gerald J. Ford Stadium (SMU) in Dallas, Texas.
This is Air Force's first appearance in the bowl game. The Falcons will be appearing in their 28th bowl game overall and 11th under head coach Troy Calhoun. Air Force has won two straight bowl games, including its last bowl appearance, a 31-21 victory over Washington State in the Cheez-It bowl in 2019.
"We are looking forward to returning to the Metroplex for our bowl game and a chance to take on Louisville," Director of Athletics Nathan Pine said. "Texas continues to be an important state for our program in terms of recruiting and also for our Academy because of the large number of alumni and service members in the region. We will look forward to spending the holidays in Texas as we continue to raise the national profile of Air Force."

The Falcons finished the regular season with a 9-3 overall record and were Mountain West Mountain Division co-champions with a 6-2 record. This season marks the 14th nine-win season in school history and sixth under Calhoun. Louisville completed the regular season 6-6 overall and finished fourth in the ACC Atlantic Division with a 4-4 record mark.
Air Force leads the nation in rushing with a 341.6 average and have held the top spot for a school-record 10 consecutive weeks, snapping the record of eight set in 2010. The Falcons have out-rushed all 12 opponents this season and have topped the 400-yard mark five times, including two straight games. The Falcons closed the regular season with a 511-yard effort vs. UNLV and didn't throw a pass in the game for the first time since 2012.
The Falcon defense is among the top five nationally, allowing just 288 total yards per game. The Falcons rank in the top three in the Mountain West and top 20 nationally in three other categories. Air Force is third in the MW and 16th nationally in scoring defense (19.1), second in the MW and 20th nationally in passing defense (193.3) and second and seventh, respectively, in rushing defense (94.7). The Falcons have allowed just 17.7 points per game over the last two seasons and held 13 of the last 15 opponents to 21 points or less.
