Rifle sets a season-best score to sweep Akron and OSU

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. – Following the conclusion of the Patriot Rifle Conference championships, the Air Force rifle team competed in a tri-match against Akron and Ohio State in Columbus on Monday, Feb. 8.
The Falcons swept the match with a season-best score 4697. The Falcons also set a season best in the air rifle with a 2375. In the smallbore, the team finished with a 2322. Akron finished with a team score of 4678 followed by OSU's 4673.
In the air rifle, Air Force finished with scores at or above 590 in the match.
Individual high scoring: Peter Fiori was the top finisher overall with a season best 598 which matched his career best in the air rifle. Fiori's series of scores in the relay were: 99, 100, 100, 100, 99, and 100. Fiori's score also matched the program's air rifle record which was claimed by former shooter Spencer Cap in 2016. Fiori's scores for the smallbore (588) and his aggregate (1186) were also the top scores for the event. His aggregate was also his season-best.
Morgan Kreb was the second-best finisher in the match. She tied her career of 595 in the air rifle and finished second to Fiori on the individual rankings. Individually, she had an aggregate 1176, and scored a 581 in the smallbore.
Ryan Habeck and Peninah D'Souza tied in the air rifle with scores of 591. Habeck's score is a career best, and D'Souza's score tied her career. Habeck finished ranked seventh with an 1169 for the top rankings. He was eighth in smallbore with a 578. D'Souza ranked ninth with a final score of 1163, she finished smallbore with a 572.
Jordan Williams claimed a 590 season best and matched his career in the air rifle. He did not shoot in the smallbore match. Devin Schwindt, who only competed in the smallbore, finished the day with a 575.
Air Force will be Fort Worth for two matches against conference champion TCU on Feb. 18 and 20.
