Men’s Tennis Unable To Hold Off NAU In 4-3 Setback

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis (6-8) fell to Northern Arizona (5-6), 4-3, Wednesday afternoon at the USAFA Outdoor Tennis Courts.

The Falcons were unable to hold a 3-2 lead as the Lumberjacks rallied back by winning the final two singles matches.

Air Force opened with a sweep in doubles for the point. Sean McKendree and Justin Waldman got the first win at No. 3 over Maciej Ziomber and Daniel Dillon 6-1. Jordan Azuma and Robert Baylon rallied back to win at No. 2 over Chris Steele and Eban Straker-Meads 6-5. Azuma and Baylon rallied back from a 5-3 deficit for the clinching win.

Air Force also won at No. 1 doubles as Paul Hendrix and Jamie Bautista downed Alex Groves and Dominik Buzonics 6-4.

The Falcons went 2-4 in singles, getting wins at No. 5 and No. 6. McKendree won at No. 5 over Groves 6-4, 7-5. Nick Vroman won at No. 6 over Joachim Schaefer 6-3, 6-4.

Hendrix fell at No. 1 to Straker-Meads 6-2, 6-3. Jonathan Mascagni fell at No. 4 to Ziomber 6-2, 6-2. Waldman fell at No. 3 to Buzonics 4-6, 7-6, 6-2. Baylon dropped the final match at No. 2 to Steele 2-6, 7-6, 7-5.

Air Force returns to action tomorrow, April 8, hosting Omaha.
