
Braydon Altorfer Earns Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week Honors

The junior catcher hit for the cycle as part of a five-hit day on Sunday
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- Air Force Academy junior catcher Braydon Altorfer was named the Mountain West Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the period ending May 9, the conference announced, Monday, May 10. It is the first weekly award of Altorfer's career and the fifth weekly award for the Falcons in 2021.
Altorfer hit for the cycle as part of a five-hit, four-RBI game in the 10-3 series finale victory over New Mexico, May 9. It was the first AF cycle since 2008. Overall on the weekend, Altorfer batted .692 with nine hits, two doubles, a triple, and two home runs, slugged 1.462, and also had eight RBIs and four runs scored. His efforts helped AF to a series sweep of UNM, the first sweep over Lobos since 2002.
Overall on the season, Altorfer has been one of AF's top offensive weapons, as he is slashing .315/.401/.538 with 45 hits, 15 doubles, a triple, five home runs, 25 runs scored, and 29 RBIs. The 15 doubles are tied for the conference lead, while he is also top-15 in the MW in hits, RBIs, home runs, and total bases. He also leads the conference in runners caught stealing with 13. Nationally, Altorfer is 27th in doubles-per-game with 0.39.
The Falcons will return to the diamond this Friday-Sunday, May 14-16, for a four-game series at home against San Jose State.
