The road to Tokyo

U.S. Air Force Academy, CO – The road to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Rifle Team starts this week for Air Force junior Peter Fiori (Lebanon, NJ) with the USA Shooting Smallbore Trials Part 2, May 24-26 in Fort Benning, Georgia. Following Smallbore Part 1, Fiori is in third place.

Scores from Trials Part 1 are added to this week's scores to determine the Olympic Team and alternates.

Only four spots (two men and two women) are up for grabs at the USA Shooting Smallbore Trials Part 2. In the men's trials, Tim Sherry of Evergreen, Colorado, leads by 5 points, followed by Patrick Sunderman of Farmington, Minnesota with a score of 2344. Only five points separate Sunderman from third place Fiori, and five point's separate Fiori from Nick Mower of Butte, Montana, who is in fourth place with a score of 2399.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 were officially postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19. The rescheduled dates will be on 24 July to 2 August 2021 at the Asaka Shooting Range.
