Air Force Men’s Basketball Completes Schedule With Non-Conference Games
9/16/2021 1:42:00 PM | Men's Basketball
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force Men's Basketball completed its 2021-22 schedule with the release of its non-conference schedule, announced today by head coach Joe Scott.
The Falcons are scheduled for 11 non-conference games, which includes home games against Texas Southern, Denver, Idaho State and service academy rival Army West Point.
"This will be a challenging non-conference schedule" Scott said. "It is a good balance of home and road games against quality opponents that will help prepare our young team for Mountain West play."
Air Force opens the season with a pair of games on the road. The season-opener is Veteran's Day Nov. 11 in a neutral-site con-test against South Dakota at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD. The Falcons travel to American Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent, Tulsa two days later on Nov. 13 as part of the Sunshine Slam.
The home-opener for the Falcons is Nov. 17 against defending Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) champion and 2020 NCAA tournament team, Texas Southern.
Air Force then travels to Daytona Beach, Fla., for two tournament style games at the Sunshine Slam. The Falcons open on Nov. 20 against Holy Cross. They play either Bethune Cookman or Bryant the following day.
The team then hosts three consecutive games, beginning Nov. 24 in a pre-Thanksgiving showdown with in-state rival Denver. The Falcons host Idaho State on Nov. 27, then cap the home stand against Army on Dec. 4.
The Falcons hit the road for its final three non-conference games, starting Dec. 8 at Montana. Air Force then travels south to take on Arkansas State on Dec. 19 and Tarleton State on Dec. 21.
Air Force is slated to open Mountain West play Dec. 28 hosting Utah State.
Conference game dates could move dependent on selection for national broadcast. The Mountain West national television partners CBS Sports and FOX Sports are currently initiating a selection procedure which will include the shifting of particular games to any night of the week. That will be followed by the identification of network outlets and tipoff times.
