9/6/2021 10:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Sydney Johnson is stepping down from Associate Head Coach duties with Air Force Men's Basketball, announced today by head coach Joe Scott.
Johnson will return to Connecticut to be closer to his family. Prior to his stint with Air Force in 2020-21, Johnson was the head coach at Fairfield University, located in Fairfield, Conn., for eight seasons, from 2011-2019.
Johnson and Scott share close ties from their time as players and coaches at their alma mater of Princeton.
"Losing Sydney is a big loss for Air Force Basketball, but I also understand that family comes first," Scott said. "We share an inseparable bond going back several decades to our days together at Princeton that goes way beyond the court. His experience and basketball knowledge greatly benefitted our players last year and helped in laying the foundation going forward. I wish Sydney nothing but the best in his next chapter and he will be greatly missed at the Academy and by me personally."
