Air Force Competes at January NAC

Air Force fencing completed competition at the January North American Cup (NAC), which ran Jan. 7-10 in San Jose, Calif.

Senior Nestor Levin and junior Matthew Han led the way for the Falcons. Levin placed 33rd in the Div. I men's foil out of a field of 227. Levin was 8-1 in competition, including a perfect 6-0 run in pool competition. Han placed 56th in the Div. I men's epee out of a field of 300. Han picked up 10 bout victories and made the round of 64 in bracket competition.

Air Force's top competitor on the women's side was sophomore Catherine Kim. Kim finished 90th in the Div. I women's saber with a pair of bout wins. Senior Erin Shea also competed in saber, placing 116th.

In addition to Levin, Griffin Peter and Ned Maurer competed in foil. Peter placed 112th and Maurer 156th. The two also competed in junior men's foil, with Peter placing 120th out of 239 and Maurer finishing 211th.

Freshmen Siddhant Padhye and Valerie Slackman also participated in Div. I and junior events in their respective epee competitions. Padhye placed 112th in the junior men's epee and 277th in the Div. I men's epee. Slackman placed 116th in the Div. I women's epee and 124th in the junior women's epee.

Freshman George Gasparovich IV also competed in the Div. I men's epee, finishing 232nd. Freshman Ashley Graflund also competed in the junior women's foil, placing 161st.

Air Force returns to action Feb. 5-6 at the NU duals, hosted by Northwestern in Evanston, Ill.
