Falcon Wrestling Hosts Northern Iowa in Big 12 Contest

Following a COVID related postponement with the Utah Valley wrestling program, Air Force has picked up a dual against Big 12 foe Northern Iowa on Friday, January 14, at Clune Arena, USAFA. Action starts at 7:30 p.m. MT. The dual against Utah Valley, originally scheduled for January 15 in Orem, will be rescheduled if possible. Friday's meet between the Falcons and Panthers is an addition to the schedule; the squads will meet for a second time on the originally scheduled date of February 4, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Air Force big man Wyatt Hendrickson (11-0) remains among the nation's best, checking in at No. 6 on Intermat, No. 8 in Win Magazine, No. 14 on Flo and No. 5 on Wrestle Stat. Hendrickson currently leads the Falcons with nine pins and 11-for-11 bonus point wins.
Sophomore 174-pounder and 2022 Junior Pan Am gold medalist Sam Wolf checked in at No. 32 on Wrestle Stat. Wolf boasts a 9-4 record coming fresh off an F&M Open title.
A LOOK AT UNI
Air Force is UNI's second dual opponent that is not ranked in the top-15. UNI returns all six of its 2021 NCAA national qualifiers, including All-American Parker Keckeisen, whose only two career losses have been to top-ranked Aaron Brooks of Penn State. Kyle Biscoglia wrestled most of UNI's duals at 133 pounds last year and has returned to rack up bonus points. He has recorded bonus points in nine of his 11 wins this year and has 14 career falls as a sophomore. He is on a three-match win streak, all with bonus points.

AF REPEATS BIG 12 WEEKLY AWARD
The Falcons received their second consecutive weekly award as Air Force senior Sidney Flores was voted Big 12 Wrestler of the Week by league coaches after taking the 133 weight class title at the David H. Lehman F&M Open.
Flores opened his title run with a major decision win over Army's Daniel Uhorchuk, 9-0. The senior continued to work consistently, picking up convincing decision wins through the round of 16 with a 7-2 victory over Joe Hayes (unattached), a 6-3 win against Zach Whitmer (Columbia), and a 6-0 sweep against David Campbell (Rutgers). Flores then outscored Army's Mark Montgomery, 10-3, to earn the title.
The week before, Air Force sophomore Wyatt Hendrickson was voted Big 12 Wrestler of the Week after conquering the heavyweight title at the 2022 Southern Scuffle, pinning three opponents while earning five bonus point victories en route to the victory.
For his dominant performance, Hendrickson won the Outstanding Wrestler award and the Gorrarian Award for the most pins in the shortest amount of time (4/11:10). Hendrickson is the first Southern Scuffle champion in Air Force history.
LAST TIME OUT
Falcon wrestling put on an impressive performance at the David H. Lehman F&M Open, concluding the tournament with three champions and six placers, Friday afternoon (Dec. 7), on the campus of Franklin & Marshall. Air Force's Sidney Flores (133), Sam Wolf (174), and Wyatt Hendrickson (285) took home titles on the event. Air Force bested Army and Navy in 16-of-20 matches on the event.
