Women’s Tennis Closes Competition on Day Three of ITA Mountain Regional

LAS VEGAS – The Air Force women's tennis team's bid for back-to-back fall bracket victories came to a close on Friday in the ITA Mountain Regional at the Frank and Vicki Fertitta Tennis Tennis Complex.

In doubles competition, sophomore Alexis Odom and senior Sydney Fitch opened the fall season on a five-consecutive win streak which earned the duo an overall victory over a 16-team field at the Air Force's own Bedford Cup. Fitch/Odom advanced to the round of 16 in Vegas after a tiebreaker victory in the second round, where they fell on Friday against Utah's Madison Tattini/Anastasia Goncharova, 8-3.

In the singles main draw, Fitch claimed victory in the opening round over Northern Arizona's Daryana Shoshyna, claiming a dominant 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win to advance.

Fitch's singles bid came to a close in the second round, falling to UNM's Ke Syuan Jhang in a third-set tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.

The Falcons resume fall competition on Oct. 28 in Tucson at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Arizona.
