Air Force Falls To #11 Loyola Marymount
10/15/2022 6:02:00 PM | Men's Water Polo
Loyola Marymount took control of the game immediately, out-scoring the Falcons 6-0 to open the first quarter. The Lions went up 8-0 before Air Force's first goal with 4:26 to go in the second quarter, scored by Sam De La Cruz.
After trailing 12-1 at the half, the Falcons scored two goals in the third and out-scored LMU 3-2 in the fourth quarter.
Six different Falcons tallied goals. Air Force was without senior Grant Snyder, the nation's leading point-scorer, due to illness.
"Loyola Marymount is a very good team and they executed," head coach Ryan Brown said. "We didn't come ready to play today."
The game was also Air Force's Pink game in support of Breast Cancer and Cancer in general awareness. Both coaching staffs wore pink polos, in addition to the game being played with a pink ball.
"Most of us know someone affected by cancer," Brown said. "I have family members affected by cancer. This is a way for us to show support to those battling cancer."
Air Force returns to action next weekend with three games in Southern California. The Falcons open the weekend with a WWPA game at UC San Diego on Friday, Oct. 21, followed by a WWPA game Saturday at Concordia and a non-conference game Sunday at UC Irvine.
