USAFA, Colo.- Following a weekend performance in which she was instrumental in guiding Air Force to a 1-0-1 record in two matches, goalkeeper Sydney Davis has been named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week.
Davis didn't allow a goal in her two starts, stopping all 15 shots on goal she faced. On October 13, Davis managed a career-high nine saves against Colorado State, as her tenacity between the net was vital to the Falcons picking up a point versus the Rams following a 0-0 draw. Davis also provided six more saves in Air Force's 1-0 win over Wyoming on October 16.
The junior now leads the Mountain West in save percentage (.855), and is second in the conference in saves per game (4.70). Davis' .842 goals against average is third among all Mountain West goalies, while her four clean sheets are also tied for third-most in the conference.
Davis is the first Air Force player to win a weekly award since Mia Otero, who was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week on October 4, 2021.
