Scott Rockett earns bronze medal at ISSF World Championships

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force sophomore Scott Rockett earned a bronze medal competing for Team USA at the 2022 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championships, Oct. 12-25, in Cairo, Egypt.

A member of the 10-meter junior air rifle team, Rockett, along with Rylan Kissell and Benjamin Salas, defeated Austria in the bronze medal match. India won the gold while China won the silver.

While in Egypt, Rockett also placed 10^th in the 50-meter prone junior individual competition. Rockett, along with Air Force teammate, junior Peninah D'Souza, will compete in the individual junior air rifle competition on Oct. 19.

The World Shooting Championships features competitors from 110 nations. The World Championship events are held at 10 meters for air rifle (same as the NCAA Rifle event) and at 50 meters for 3-position smallbore. The 3-position smallbore event is held outdoors which brings in the factor of wind impacts on the bullets. The NCAA 3-position event is the same except the NCAA competition is indoors at 50 feet on a reduced target.
