Falcons Finalize Wing Open Date

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force boxing team announced that the 2023 Wing Open Championships – one of the most anticipated events on the Academy calendar – will be held under the lights of Clune Arena at 7:00 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, March 2. The date of the Wing Open Championships headlines the second half of the Falcons' 2022-23 schedule, which was also recently announced by head coach Blake Baldi.

Winter competition begins on Jan. 20 when the Falcons return to the Cadet Boxing Room for their final Friday Night Fights of the year. The Falcons will then hit the road for three competitions against their NCBA foes – the Arthur Mercante Invitational on Jan. 28 (New York, N.Y.), the WAC Main Event on Feb. 3-4 (Seattle, Wash.), and the Bearcat Brawl on Feb. 11 (Cincinnati, Ohio) – before heading back to the Academy to begin the Wing Open Tournament.

The quarterfinal (Feb. 17) and semifinal (Feb. 24) rounds will take place in the Boxing Room, while the finals will take place inside the ring at Clune Arena. The winners of the March 2 championship will form the nucleus of the squad that will compete at the NCBA Western Regional (Berkeley, Calif., on March 9-11) and NCBA Championships (Charlotte, N.C., on April 13-15).
