
Air Force Lands Nine on 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling Team

Irving, Texas - A total of 126 student-athletes have been recognized on the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling Team. Nine Falcons earned spots on the list.
The team features 33 student-athletes from Conference member institutions Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and West Virginia. Student-athletes from the league's affiliate members in the sport - Air Force, Missouri, Northern Colorado, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Utah Valley and Wyoming - total 93 selections.
Air Force's Hunter Bleakney, Trey Brisker, Jack Johnson, Garrett Kuchan, Cody Phippen, and Jared Van Vleet earned spots on the first team while Cole Forrester and Quinn Melofchik landed on the second team. Team captain Van Vleet has earned the honor three times, while Johnson, Brisker and Forrester each earned their second nod.
101 student-athletes made the first team, while 25 selections make up the second team.
A total of nine student-athletes registered 4.0 grade point averages: Dylan Droegemueller (North Dakota State), Jared Franek (North Dakota State), Noah Glaser (Northern Iowa), Taylor LaMont (Utah Valley), Nathan Moore (Northern Colorado), Bennett Sherrer (Oklahoma State), Noah Surtin (Missouri), Justin Thomas (Oklahoma) and Jacob Wright (Wyoming).
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
