Falcons shoot second best round at TCU

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force posted its second highest score of the season in an NCAA Qualifier at TCU, Saturday, Feb. 19, in Fort Worth. Air Force shot a 4732 while TCU shot a 4740.
Air Force freshman Scott Rockett shot a career best 1190 to win the aggregate score. Ryan Habeck was fifth overall at 1181 while Morgan Kreb and Devin Schwindt tied for eighth with 1179.
Rockett won both the smallbore (591) and air rifle (599). Kreb and Peninah D'Souza tied for fourth in smallbore (587). Habeck and Lauren Hurley tied for sixth in air rifle (596).
"I'm so proud of our team to shoot our second best round of the season," head coach Launi Meili said. "Scott's 1190 combined score is absolutely world class. We are now sitting in fourth place going in to the NCAAs."
Air Force entered the week ranked seventh in the nation, but the Falcons shot their two best scores of the season in two meets at TCU. The NCAA Championship selection show will air at 1 pm MT on Tuesday, Feb. 22. A link to the show will be on www.NCAA.com.
The Air Force Academy will host the 2022 NCAA Rifle Championships, March 11-12. The Championship will conclude on Saturday, March 12, in Clune Arena. The co-ed tournament features the top eight NCAA rifle teams, along with the next highest scoring individuals that are not part of the competing teams.
